Important Information about the Target Data Breach
Village Bank values your financial relationship with us and takes very seriously the security for your account. In response to the Target data breach [click link below for details], Village Bank has made the decision to issue replacement cards to all customers that Visa has identified as potentially compromised by the Target breach.
All replacement debit cards being reissued should be received by February 17, 2014. If you receive a new card in the mail, please activate it immediately and destroy your old card. You will also need to alert any merchants that process recurring payments using your debit card of your new debit card number. The cards that Visa identified as being potentially compromised will be closed on February 22, 2014 and will no longer be authorized.
If you suspect fraudulent activity within your Village Bank deposit account, please report unauthorized transactions to our Customer Care Team by contacting them by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling directly (804) 419-8919.
If you did not use your card at a Target store during this timeframe, we do not have reason to believe that your card information was compromised; therefore, we will not be re-issuing a new replacement debit card.
Important Update for Online Banking
In a continuing effort to protect your confidential financial information Village Bank will institute a higher degree of authentication for verifying security answers beginning September 25, 2013. This process will verify more characters and numbers for an exact match before accessing online banking. We suggest you verify your security questions using the Options tab prior to September 25, 2013. This simple step will help eliminate unnecessary lockouts. If you need assistance with this process, please contact the Village Customer Care Team at (804)-419-8919 or via email at email@example.com.
Let us know when you are traveling.
Village Bank knows how important it is to protect your privacy.
We also know there has been an increase in identity theft and fraud related to the use of debit cards, particularly by out-of-state and international perpetrators. Most card issuing companies decline transactions based on past transaction history if suspicious charges are made.
Before you travel, please let us know your travel plans so we can place a notice on your debit card during your trip. This is an important step in travel planning as certain debit card transactions may be declined while you are out of the area.
By informing Village Bank of your travel plans, we will work with VISA to ensure you are able to use your debit card without the fear of having your transactions declined.
You may notify us by stopping into any branch during normal business hours or calling our Customer Care Team at (804) 419-8919 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thank you for choosing Village Bank.
